What we do

La crème de la crème

We visit top class hotels in Cumbria to enjoy afternoon teas. All teas are private functions.

We are a relaxed, friendly and informal Group.  You'll be met at the hotel entrance and made most welcome.  Phone or email to book or for details. Happy to arrange a lift or travel companion. Why not bring a non-member friend? (Nb. Non-members may attend 2 meetings/events before joining SLU3A.)  PAY ON THE DAY.

Reports

March 2017

The chat that members sustain throughout Teas is unceasing - quite remarkable! In Feb the 'Punch Bowl' (Crosthwaite) chat, aided by lovely food, was typical. Likewise, I suspect, at our Michelin-starred March venue, Forest Side Hotel, Grasmere. Report in the next Newsletter.
We are all very saddened by the death of Mary Charlton who was due to join me in February as joint co-ordinator. I shall retire as co-ordinator and seek a replacement. Anyone willing to take this role on should contact me.

CASTLE DAIRY (Kendal). APRIL. We will go here on the first day this historic restaurant re-opens after the floods and major renovations. It is Kendal's oldest inhabited building - a lovely olde world experience.

THE SAMLING. (Windermere). MON 3 JULY. 3.00 for 3.30 p.m. Michelin Star. Refurbished plus new dining room extension. Extensive lake views. £25

ANOTHER PLACE -THE LAKE (Ullswater). AUG. We'll go on the first day this major brand new hotel spa opens. Terrific lakeside position.

We are a relaxed, friendly, informal Group. You will be made welcome. Happy to arrange a lift or travel companion. Why not bring a friend? (Non-members may attend 2 events before joining SLU3A). Pay on the day.

November 2016

In September, tea at Rothay Manor, Ambleside, was excellent and reasonably priced. The Lyth Valley Country Inn provided outstanding food, ambience, service and views in October.
