What we do

We are a small group and would welcome new members.  We have the benefit of excellent hifi equipment and a large collection of CDs & LPs.

November 2019

18 December: Haydn, ending with a symphony. Also something for Christmas.

15 January: Shostakovich Symphony No 6 and related pieces by Beethoven and Michael Haydn.

October 2019

20 Nov: Young people. Music by young composers: JS Bach, Rossini, Mendelssohn; and for the young: Britten (not The Young Person's Guide ...) & Prokofiev (not Peter & the Wolf). If time permits, some short pieces by one or two of Bizet, Schumann, Fauré, Tchaikovsky, Debussy.

18 Dec: Haydn, ending with a symphony. Also something for Christmas.

August 2019

11 Sep - (NB 2nd, not 3rd Wednesday) - Scotland. Music from, about, or in some way connected with Scotland. Featuring Mendelssohn & Bruch, among others.
16 Oct - Dvorak. Ending with either the 5th or the 6th Symphony.
20 Nov - Young people. Music by young composers (e.g. Rossini, Mozart); or for the young (e.g. Schumann, Fauré, Britten, Prokofiev).
18 Dec - Haydn, ending with a symphony. Also something for Christmas.

May 2019

Recently we have listened to “Music for peace and goodwill, from Mozart to Stravinsky”; Spanish music; and Spain-related music by non-Spanish composers. There are more treats in store, month by month.
