What we do

We are a group of 10-14 usually, who get every other Monday off to a good start with a lively discussion.

November 2018

Next Meetings - 7,21 January; 4,18 February; 4,18 March; 1,15,29 April

Meetings continue to be well attended, interesting and lively. Subjects are always chosen by the members.

Recent topics have included - Racism, Sex Discrimination, Climate Change, Freedom of the Press and Humour and how it has changed/evolved.

August 2018

Next Meetings - 10, 24 September; 8,22 October; 5,19 November; 3,17 December

We meet once a fortnight and meetings continue to be well attended, interesting and lively. Subjects are always chosen by the members. Recent topics have included - Crime and Punishment, Civilisation - is art the true measure of how civilised we are, Liberal Democracy, Medical Ethics, Vegetarian or Carnivore, Fashion Industry and The NHS.

From September we will be meeting in the Betty Limb Room at Abbott Hall Social Centre while our previous meeting place undergoes major structural alterations.

May 2018

Meetings - 14 May; 11, 25 Jun; 9, 23 Jul. No meetings in August.

Our fortnightly meetings are well attended and lively, recent discussions have included World population, Trees, Has Tourism Reached a Tipping Point, Language, Gene Therapy and Genetic Engineering, and Kept Animals. Members pick the next topic at each meeting so we don’t have a fixed programme.

November 2017

2018 Meetings: 15, 29 Jan; 5, 19 Feb; 5, 19 Mar; 16, 30 Apr (no meeting on 2 Apr – Easter Monday)

Our fortnightly meetings are well attended and lively.

Recent discussions have included Social Housing, High Street or Internet Shopping, Chinese Investment, Free Speech in Universities and Economic Inequality in Society Society. Members pick the next topic at each meeting so we don’t have a fixed programme.
