What we do

Food wine and friendships - Seeking Cumbria’s finest dining experience’

You do not need to come to every event; choose those which most appeal. Non-members and friends welcome. (Maximum 2 U3A events).

We aim for an easy-going, friendly group: distinctly non-stuffy. All restaurants/hotels are amongst the very finest in Cumbria.

Our hostesses greet you at the entrance and you will be made most welcome.

Happy to arrange a lift or travel companion.  Why not bring a friend?

March 2017

In December we visited The Punch Bowl, Crosthwaite where 43 diners enjoyed excellent food. The Punch Bowl donated two free lunches or dinners to our free prize draw.

L'Enclume welcomed us on two dates in January. Rated as excellent by our diners. First class food and service from UK's No.1 Restaurant.

Set in 15 acres of grounds, on the shores of Ullswater with views extending over the Helvellyn mountain range.  Head Chef Mark Harris has worked in some of the worlds finest hotels including 2 Michelin star La Gavroche, 1 Michelin star Capital Hotel London and Le-Meridien Brussels. £32

THE SAMLING (Windermere). Mon. 11th Sep.

Stunning new restaurant, recently opened, with views extending over Lake Windermere.  Head Chef Nick Edgar, protégé of Raymond Blanc, worked for 15 years at Raymond's famous 2 Michelin starred Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons Hotel.  Tasting Menu £45.
