We are a group of recorder players of intermediate standard and beyond which has evolved out of the former Kendal Recorder Group run by Marlene Phillips. We will be playing music, in four or more parts, ranging from Renaissance to the present day. The group will choose a series of pieces to work on each term.
. We would particularly welcome players of treble, tenor and bass instruments. Whilst some of our group can conduct, they really want to play, so we are also looking for a conductor who can keep us in time and help us interpret the music.
If you interested in joining us please contact
Jan Tawn email - firstname.lastname@example.org phone - 01539 721362

Next meetings - 9 Jan - 27 Mar
Our numbers are steady and we continue to strive for musicality under George’s baton as we play music ranging from Mozart to Scott Joplin.
In November a group of us visited Heron Hill Primary School with six different sizes of recorder to demonstrate that recorder music is not restricted to the standard school descant.
We are looking forward to playing carols at the Unitarian Chapel coffee morning in December.
Next Meetings - 12, 19, 26 Sept; 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 Oct; 7, 14, 21, 28 Nov; 5, 12 Dec
After our summer break we will start again in September. We play a wide range of music in four or more parts. The group is fairly full at present but if you are interested in joining come and talk to us at the U3A Open Morning or contact Jan or George.
Next Meetings - April 11, 18, 25, May 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
Since January we have concentrated on getting a range of pieces up to performance standard. We played to an appreciative audience at the Co-ordinators’ Tea and this has encouraged us to look for other opportunities to demonstrate that the recorder is not just a squeaky instrument played in school. We currently have a good range of instruments and are not accepting new members. Anyone interested should contact Jan or George and we can put them on a waiting list. We will take a break at the end of May and restart in September.
