What we do

There are four separate Amblers groups, walking in different locations, but with similar approaches. All four meet twice each month.

Amblers 1 & 2 walks proceed at a fairly gentle pace, are about 5 miles long without much climbing (maybe 500 feet or so, depending on the leaders). Along the way we stop for a coffee break and a picnic lunch. Dogs on leads are allowed on walks in group 1, but not in group 2.

Amblers 3 has the possibility of a pub or cafe lunch at the end of the walk instead of a break for lunch (particularly in the Winter months). A visit to a garden or historical site might be included during or following a walk.

Amblers 4 aims to finish before lunch.

Members may only join one of the four Amblers Groups. (to allow for our large number of enthusiastic amblers) However, a member can belong to one Amblers group AND one Amblers Plus group.

AMBLERS 4 (Dog Free)

Co-ordinators: Anne Urquhart anneurquhart2@gmail.com

David Little dgl1947@gmail.com

Twice monthly - 1st and 3rd Thursdays

We will start walking at the earlier time of 10.00 a.m., keeping a steady pace for around 5 miles and aiming to be back at the start point by 1.00 p.m., before lunch, so there will usually be only 1 planned stop for coffee. We will happily tackle stiles, stream crossings, occasional easy scrambles and a bit of height gain, up to about 500 feet.

Thank you to our members who have so willingly led walks, ensuring a good mix of areas to explore.
