Twice a month – 2nd and 4th Thursday

2017 Walks - 23 Nov; 14 Dec

We undertake full day walks, all year round, generally, but not always, aiming to reach the top of something. Most often we walk in the Lakes, though we also visit other areas such as the Dales. Walks are usually about 7-10 miles, with a height gain of about 700-1000 metres. Group members plan and lead the walks, and numbers are restricted to 15 on each walk.

Details of walks on offer are circulated by email about 10 days in advance, and bookings made also by email. We try to share cars as much as possible, and share costs with drivers. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, as are members’ visitors, when we have space.

We walk on the second and fourth Thursday of the month. Our first outing in January, on the 11th, will be a short walk (probably Potter Fell) followed by our seasonal pub lunch, probably at the Eagle and Child in Staveley. Dates from then until Easter will be January 25th, February 8th and 22nd, March 8th and 22nd. Our programme for 2018 is still in preparation, but we hope to include the Kentmere Horseshoe and Helvellyn via Striding Edge, as well as some less challenging outings. We are a large group, but will be very pleased to welcome new members. If you would like to join the circulation list please email to:
