Walking (Tuesday Walkers)
|Co-ordinator(s)||Richard Moore, Margaret Bunch Nicky Beeson
What we do
Richard and Nicky each organise one regular walk every month, one on the first Tuesday and one on the third. These tend to be 8-10 miles in length and with 2000 to 3500 feet of ascent, and they are generally recce'd in advance by the walk leaders.
Richard also organises the Explorers subgroup, in which the walks are similar to the regular walks except that they are not recce’d in advance - they are planned only from maps, books, etc. Explorers walks take place every Tuesday except the first and third.
Margaret runs the Offbeat subgroup, which seeks to find areas and routes to walk which explore less travelled paths, mostly in the Dales and the Howgills. The walks adopt a modest pace and cover about 8-10 miles and approx 2,000 feet of ascent, and they take place on the second and fourth Tuesdays each month.
Currently the Explorers and the Offbeat subgroups are not accepting new members.
The group has reopened.
Richard and Nicky are organising 2 ‘Regular’ walks each month, one on the first Tuesday and one on the third. In April and May these will be led by Richard and Nicky themselves, but from June onwards they will be led by group members as usual. In addition, Margaret and Richard have restarted their ‘Offbeat’, respectively 'Explorers' walks, though initially these are both operating with limited numbers. Offbeat walks take place on the second and fourth Tuesdays each month, and Explorers walks every Tuesday except the first and third.
