What we do

Bryan and Richard each organise a regular walk every month on the third Tuesday. This is usually on the high tops of the Lake District or the surrounding area. These tend to be 8-10 miles in length and up to 3000 feet of ascent. They are recce'd in advance by the walk leaders.

Richard also organises the Tuesday Explorers subgroup, in which the walks are similar to the regular walks except that they are not recce’d in advance. These walks can be any Tuesday but will not clash with any of the other Tuesday walks. The Explorers group is not currently accepting new members, but there is a (sort of) waiting list.

Chris organises walks along local Long Distance Footpaths. These are done in sections and not recc’d in advance. They can be done any Tuesday, but don’t clash with other Tuesday walks. The group is aiming to complete Lady Anne’s Way from Skipton to Penrith in September and will start the Richmond Way from Richmond to Lancaster in October. There is currently a short waiting list for this sub-group, so please contact Chris for more information.

Margaret runs the Offbeat subgroup. The Offbeat Group seeks to find areas and routes to walk which will explore the less travelled paths. We will try to take a modest pace and cover about 8/10 miles and ascent of approx 2,000 ft. Consequently this has taken us mostly into the Dales and the Howgills. The walks will not clash with other TW walks.

On all walks involving high tops, numbers are limited to around 15 for safety reasons. New members are welcome except for Lady Anne’s Way and Explorers.
